I wanted to test the Typepad cross-posting functionality of Vox on my "No Power!!!" post from last night, which I moblogged. Turns out that the "Cross-post an excerpt to my TypePad blog" option is not available on that post. It is available on this one though.
Bug or feature limitation ?
Flashback to 2000 and the big energy crisis! Our house in Palo Alto, and our entire neighborghood, is out of power!
I read that the state of California was expected to generate record demand because of the heat. Are we back to rolling blackouts?
I am at MashupCamp II for a couple of days, and I realized with horror that the publishing interface of Typepad is down, which means that I can't blog about the conference (OK, I can write offline) but also I told everyone that I would indicate on my blog when the session I am leading is taking place.
Lesson: Blogs are critical business tools - more than many people think!
Since I am a sucker for memes, I had to find a picture to post. I did not have much time to get into the family digital archive, so I chose this one.
These two are the daughters of my cousin Patrice. The picture was taken on the day of Sandrine's wedding about three years ago (she is on the left). Alice, on the right, is my God daughter.

I know, football/soccer again... But hey, it will be years before it happens again! And on Monday, it will all be over.
Watching the second game of the Argentina team against Serbia Montenegro. Most impressive football that these guys are deploying. Lots of agility and speed.
Certainly a strong contender for the title.
I have flown in commercial airplanes hundreds of times, and I have had my fair share of incidents. But it is the first time that I had someone next to me pray out loud for 10 minutes that the plane would not crash, etc. As much as I respect everyone's religious beliefs, orientations and needs, wtf!
My current (2-burner) BBQ is showing clear signs of fatigue and I am now looking for something more serious, as in BTUs, 6 burners and a lot of room for cooking - allowing me to cook a boatload of hamburgers at the same time.
I visited BBQ Galore in Palo Alto today and zero'ed in on their Grand Turbo.
Any other suggestion ?
PS: the motivation for some of you is that you will get to eat some of these burgers :-).
Not only is it interesting, but it is produced by Bernadette - my wife - who is the Program and Marketing Manager for the Center.

Six Apart's Vox (ex-Comet) is out in preview
Six Apart has opened (ajar – since it is an invite only preview) the door of its new group/family-oriented service: Vox. It is full of your usual Web 2.0 features such as Ajax and tagging, integrating multimedia content, social networking, etc.
The result looks pretty slick and a tad slow (but it is just a preview). A lot of the features, such as embedding photos in posts, adding tags, etc. are very easy to use as compared to other implementations. Hey guys, actually, can we get these goodies on TypePad as well ?
